 Willie Wilson
Professional Golfer

PictureWillie Wilson
Willie Wilson distinguished himself as a Professional Golfer and one of few blacks to have a PGA (Professional Golfers Association) membership and card 48 years ago. He is a product of Morehouse Parish Training School and Morehouse High School. He has many fond memories of his time at Morehouse School. His proudest memories are the ones of playing the trumpet in the first band, playing football and running track.

Mr. Wilson recently celebrated his 79th birthday and continues to play golf as well as serving as a valuable committee member for this reunion’s golf tournament.

Mr. Wilson became interested in golfing in 1955 when he worked as a Caddy at Morehouse Country Club. He played as often as he could in any open space he could find. When he relocated to Milwaukee, WI he began seriously playing golf. He attended classes to obtain his PGA card in 1960. He became a Golf Pro, teaching others to play the game, and started playing tournaments as a professional in 1968.  He placed 3rd in his first tournament as a professional. He has since played many tournaments across the United States.

Mr. Wilson worked for Chrysler Corporation for 30 years and also worked 30 years as a Golf Pro for Lake Geneva Golf Course and Paganica Golf Course. He played professionally from 1968 until 2012.
